Wingrove Valley sits in a quiet valley in the Acacia Thornveld just outside Pietermaritzburg. It is a farm-style venue with a forest ceremony space, open fields and water, and it is one of our favourite places to photograph weddings near Pietermaritzburg.

The Forest Ceremony

Ceremonies are held under tall trees, with wooden benches lining the aisle. The canopy gives soft, even light on faces, and a floral arch at the end of the aisle makes a beautiful frame for the vows and first kiss.

Fields, Water and Mist

For the creative shoot, the fields and the water give us plenty of variety, from big bridal party shots with coloured smoke to quiet portraits of the two of you. On misty days, the hills and the water take on a soft, moody feel that we love. In winter, the low sun creates a spectacular golden hour.

The Reception

The glass reception area overlooking the water is a standout. It fills with natural light during the day, and once the fairy lights come on in the evening it is perfect for speeches, the first dance and the party.
