Talloula Wedding Photographer
Talloula in Botha’s Hill is one of the venues we keep coming back to in the Upper Highway area. Glynnis and her team host every wedding with real care, and the venue has everything a photographer could ask for: a chapel, gardens, a rustic reception hall and views over the hills, all on one property.
Photographing a Wedding at Talloula
The Reception Hall
We often start a Talloula wedding by photographing the reception before guests arrive. The fairy-light backdrops, overhanging pieces and long wooden tables give the room an authentic, rustic feel, and the hall photographs beautifully both in daylight and once the lights come on. At one wedding the couple’s lit-up initials glowed behind each speaker during the speeches, which added so much to the photos.
Getting Ready and the Chapel
Brides usually get ready at the venue itself, which makes the morning relaxed. Grooms have prepared nearby, from family homes in Hillcrest to Phezulu Safari Park. The chapel ceremony is intimate, and the grand exit under flying petals is always a highlight.
Gardens, Smoke and the Hills
The gardens are ideal for the creative shoot with the bridal party, and we have used smoke bombs here more than once. With drone footage, we have finished couples’ shoots at the top of Botha’s Hill for sweeping views for the wedding film.
Mist and Weather
The Upper Highway weather can change quickly. At Johan and Carla’s wedding, a wet mist rolled in straight after the ceremony. Instead of fighting it, we used it: the mist gave the portraits a beautiful twilight feel, and some flash work made them even more dramatic. Spring is especially pretty here, with flowers everywhere around the venue.
