Haycroft in the KZN Midlands is mind-blowingly beautiful. It has an authentic rustic look, so you can shoot almost anywhere on the property and the textures just jump out at you. Couples have even flown in from New Zealand to get married here.

Photographing a Wedding at Haycroft

The Bridal Suite and Chapel

The bridal suite is pretty perfect for photography, with big, bright windows and gorgeous soft light for the dress, details and getting-ready moments. The chapel is the venue’s wet-weather option as well, so even on a rainy day the ceremony is in good hands.

The Forest

The forest is the highlight for us: row upon row of trees, with light and shadows peeping through. It works for the bridal party, for intimate portraits of the couple and even for cutting the cake, as one couple did with their cheesecake. Our cameras handle the low light under the trees well, so we can keep shooting there late into the afternoon.

The Lake, the Boat and the Boardwalk

Canapés and family photos by the water work beautifully, and a trek across the dam leads to an open field for the bridal party. If you are brave enough, a tiny boat out on the water at sunset makes for unforgettable images. After dark, the boardwalk is our favourite spot for a night shoot.

Reception

Haycroft has never let us down with its décor and lighting. Long rows of tables make a lovely change from round ones and give us great lines for wide reception shots.
