Haycroft Wedding in the Midlands: Rob & Nicole

I would like to welcome Rob and Nicole to our blog this afternoon! This couple got married at Haycroft in the KZN Midlands, and even with the weather playing tricks on us all day, it turned out to be a beautiful celebration.

A Rainy Morning at Haycroft

The day started with the rain falling and stopping, and then falling and stopping again. Because of the unpredictable weather, the venue decided to host the guests in the chapel.

Nicole was a beautiful bride and looked gorgeous in her Hanrie Lues gown! Her girls were super supportive and made her feel so special. One thing I love about this venue is its authentic rustic look. You can shoot anywhere, and the textures just jump out at you.

The Chapel Ceremony

Rob seemed like a gracious and gentle soul who just adores Nicole. When she walked down the aisle, you could see how much love he has for his bride. The priest did a profound job, and before we knew it, the service had ended and we were preparing for the grand exit.

Cheers rang out all around as Rob and Nicole walked through a rain of petals, with everyone so excited for them!

Family Photos by the Lake and Forest Portraits

We made our way down to the lake for canapés and drinks, and I decided to shoot the family photos near the water. I then called the retinue for the creative shoot and we started the long trek across the dam to an open field. We popped the champagne and had lots of fun in the cold. The girls were very brave!

Inside the forest, I could see we were running out of light because the weather had changed again. I knew our cameras could handle the forest, so we spent the next 35 minutes there with just Rob and Nicole. They were so patient with us and I appreciated that a lot.

A Rustic Reception and Boardwalk Night Shoot

When we got to the reception, Haycroft never let us down with its beautiful décor and lighting. The tables were set out in long rows, which made a lovely change from the usual round tables.

The speeches were all heartfelt and gave us more background on Rob and Nicole’s families. There was a bit of roasting from Rob’s groomsmen, but it was all said in love, with lots of laughs all around. I ended the night with a night shoot on the boardwalk, and Nicole looked simply stunning!
