Calderwood Hall Wedding: Kyle & Angela

I would like to welcome Kyle and Angela to our blog today! This couple tied the knot in the forest chapel at Calderwood Hall in the KZN Midlands. The décor was light and filled with sunflowers to match Angela’s bouquet. Wooden tables are always a favourite of mine, and the initials that lit up the dance floor made the reception even more appealing.

Groomsmen Prep in the Forest

Kyle was quite nervous when I arrived, and the guys kept teasing him to help ease his nerves. The forest was a big win for the groomsmen shoot, giving us beautiful light and backgrounds. The groomsmen were perfect for Kyle, and we laughed at everything we did. A great start to the morning!

A Bride in a Custom Floral Gown

The girls were just as nervous. When I opened the bedroom door, I saw this gorgeous, grey-haired bride in a floral gown, busy with the makeup artist. When I saw the grey hair and the beautiful custom-designed dress, I knew this wedding was going to be a winner!

After some champagne and a few fun shots with the girls, I went to photograph the forest while they got changed. When I returned, the rest of the bridal prep went smoothly and we all had fun.

A Tractor Entrance to the Forest Chapel

The forest was filled with guests waiting for the bride to make her appearance. When Angela arrived, she came on the back of a trailer pulled by a farm tractor! The entrance was spellbinding, and Kyle had to swallow his tears as he saw Angela making her way down the aisle with her dad.

The pastor did a great job with the ceremony, and we were even greeted by a herd of cows crossing to the other side of the woods. The vows were intimate and lots of tears were shed.

Cake on the Island and Golden-Light Portraits

After the first kiss and the exit, we went to the chapel above to sign the register, and then to the island in the lake to cut the cake. After the family photos at the lake, I took the retinue to the forest for some smoke bombs and fun!

Angela and Kyle could not keep their hands off each other, and they graciously gave me enough time for some incredible light in the open fields for their portraits. I was truly blessed with great light!

A Reception Full of Toasts

The reception was buzzing with great vibes, speeches and lots of toasts! Angela and Kyle have been through a lot together, and the speeches from Kyle’s groomsmen and friends shared some of those moments. The first dance was intimate, and the DJ quickly heated up the dance floor, with lots of guests letting their hair down. It was a night to remember!
